The Centenary Garden.

Creating a green space to be enjoyed by many.

An attractive environment creating a positive attitude towards school and learning

Beginning in 2016 a programme was undertaken to create the LMS Centenary garden with the intention of making a space that was better suited to the growing needs of the school.

After working with the school year groups and staff a design was selected and approved by the school, pupils and PTA in April 2016.

The cost of the garden was approx £180,000. This was not a trivial sum of money but the garden was designed for many years usage and there was a great deal of work involved.

The project was initially funded by the School using its cashflow with the PTA then raising funds to repay this amount. This enabled the garden to be created to celebrate the school centenary in 2017.

In addition to enjoying the garden, students are able to share responsibility for its maintenance. Many of the 742 pupils do not have an outdoor space at home or the opportunity to care for plants and their environment. A low maintenance cost has been addressed in the design.
