What are teachers bids?

Thanks to the support of many parents over the years, funds raised by the LMS PTA have helped purchase many items requested by Department Heads. These are called teachers bids.

The Weston Foundation provided £50,000 towards the refurbishment of the changing rooms in 2014 and the Daisy Trust contributed to the purchase of a new Grand Piano.

Equipment purchased - Funds raised by the PTA have bought: visualizers, white boards, document camera, glass pens (English), screen printing exposing unit, print press, materials, lighting, easels, repairs to silk screens (Art), lockers, exercise mats, Duke of Edinburgh equipment, mirrors, outdoor table tennis table (PE), LED projectors, autoclave, Edvocyler, microscope and lab packs (Science), printers (Geography and History), microwaves, catwalk staging, saucepans, cookers, microwaves, laptops, fridges, CAD/CAM sewing machine, dress making dummies (DT), keyboards (Music) and large amounts have been been put towards text books, resources and course materials in a variety of subjects.

Large contributions - Substantial amounts from annual fund-raising activities have enabled school to purchase larger items these have included a laser cutter (DT) £9,000 and a new grand piano £19,712.  Parents also contributed £14,000 towards the Oliver Centre which opened in 2010 and £20,816 towards the installation of a new A/V system in the hall.

Centenary Garden - School asked the PTA to fund this legacy project to commemorate the Centenary and improve the schools infrastructure after the recent buildings expansion and increase in pupils.  Individual parents kindly organised specific fund-raising initiatives for the fund such as the 100 mile cycle ride, Tesco Bags for Life scheme and a boat party.  The PTA also received a donation to the Fund from the Worshipful Company of Gardeners Charity Board, My Plumber Man and continue to raise funds for this project.

Thank you for your continued support.
